Observation notes: Found in a friend's garage in northeastern Kansas on 21Aug2016, friends live in a heavily wooded area, rain recently with temps 57-89 degrees. He's very active, yellow with black dot markings on sides, false eye marking. Thought perhaps buck moth or ceratocampinae because of size but no setae or spikes. We put some leaves from butterfly bush & oak tree.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Larva probably has wandered off of foodplant (grape, muscadine, virginia creeper) and is looking for a place to burrow into the ground and pupate. This will probably overwinter and emerge as a moth in spring 2017.SAT
