Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Observed at the boat landing area at the small lake at the Claremont Colleges' Bernard Field Station. Although the general area consists of California sage scrub, the immediate area where the caterpillar was seen as more riparian plants, including willows (Salix gooddingii and Salix lasiolepis), Coyote Brush (Baccharis pilularis), wild grape (Vitis sp.), rushes, sedges, and other. The caterpillar was crawling on bare ground and looked like it might have been headed for the wild grape.
