Observation notes: At the altitude where the caterpillar was found, there were low evergreen shrubs, many different mosses, but not many for leafy plants. Another specimen was spotted even higher up, with nothing more than grass and lichen around it. It was cloudy, very windy, and relatively cold for August at around 50 degrees. It moved very slowly but I did not observe any other notable behavior.
