Observation notes: There were two very similar caterpillars near my house. The first I found on my wood deck--when I picked it up to relocate it, it barely responded although it didn't appear to be injured in any way. The second one I noticed a few minutes later along the paver walkway right up against the wall. It appeared to be chewing on dried grass clippings that had blown up against the wall and also actively moved away from me. I set the first caterpillar down by the other one but in the few minutes I remained there, it did not move.
