Achemon sphinx
Eumorpha achemon

Observation date: August 02, 2018
Date notes: I seem to find these crawling on my driveway, but not in my plants.
Submitted by: Boomerang Bugs
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny warm day, found on driveway. This is the second on found. The first found about 3 weeks ago. Also, saw a similar one 2 weeks ago but it was light brownish. All of them were found on the driveway.
Status: Resident
Verified by: A_baldini
Verified date: August 12, 2018
Coordinator notes: This is the green-form caterpillar of the Achemon sphinx moth (genus Eumorpha, not Pachysphinx). As you mentioned, the tan/brown form is also quite common. The adults have beautiful pink hindwings, and the females lay eggs on grapevines or related plants, the leaves of which are consumed by the caterpillars.
