Coordinator notes: There are two species of Purplish Coppers in the state. This one is clearly the one that flies at higher altitude known as Lycaena florus. The one you usually find at lower altitude is known by the identification name here. There are a few places where they meet and appear to intergrade. The two use different host plants (florus uses blueberry family plants - Vaccinium; and helloides uses plants such as Dock - Rumex). Mike
