Purplish Copper
Lycaena helloides

Observation date: July 31, 2022
Date notes: In burn area of the 2020 fire near Grand Lake/ in RMNP, which was covered with wildflowers
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: None.
Status: Resident
Verified by: mikefisher
Verified date: September 03, 2022
Coordinator notes: There is not enough of an orange marginal line on the hindwings for this to be the Lilac-bordered Copper...you can see...markings at the edge of the hindwings are sparse, evident only at the anal angle (inside corner of the wing). I probably explained before the purplish coppers in the mountains are not the same as they are at low altitude but should be named the Mountain Copper (Lycaena florus). Mike
