Observation notes: Putting eggs on Buckwheat flowers, sunny warm day just below your spot for California Crescent. Only saw this one at this spot but saw others at other locations. This year we saw these for the first time, was excited to see this one leaving eggs on buckwheat flower buds. Note tip of abdomen. it kept going from flower to flower. also landing on the leaves of same plant near the ground. Not all of the green hairstreak's that we saw had the row of dots on them. Most did not have these just one or two dots. This butterfly seemed to only go to the flowers that had not opened yet, then it would place the tip of its abdomen on them over and over. took a lot of photo's of this behavior.
