Observation notes: I was wondering what the sack was hanging from its tail? It was dragging it everywhere and also what kind of butterfly or moth it makes...Found in East Texas, Lake Sam Rayburn area...

Coordinator notes: That is the cuticle or molted skin. Every time a larva or caterpillar molts, it forms a new instar (point in development). Most go through 5 or 6.
