Observation notes: Have observed this moth flying about for the last couple of days and finally had an opportunity today to photgraph it as it landed on my flag posted outside of my garage. While flying it has appeared to have quite a colorful body but unfortunately in these shots the bugger would not move. Trying to get some more detailed info regarding the species of moth. The closest I have matched it up against is a Sphynx. The flag should hopefully provide some scale. It is 5'x3' w/2.75" stripes. The moth was extremely docile. While I did not touch it, I was able to get a finger right next to it as I tried to encourage it to open up his wings. No luck. Any help you can provide in identifying would be great. Anything else I can offer - please ask. Thank you. Bill North - Coventry, RI USA
