Observation date: May 03, 2012
Submitted by: naturalist
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was on the ground at approximately 3:00 p.m. and was barely alive. It was about an inch across, and the wings had begun to curl under. Had extensions at bottom of wing like a hairstreak but no visible red spots as in a Hewittson's Blue Hairstreak. Iridescent turquoise blue fading into black and abdomen was orange underneath. The only ID that seems to match is from Mexico or S. America and I found it in Texas, 77318, about an hour north of Houston.
