White-dotted Prominent
Nadata gibbosa

Observation date: August 05, 2012
Submitted by: rterr070
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It seems most likely that the host plant is Morning Glory, but the caterpillar has not eaten anything offered to it. It was being attacked by ants when I found it, so it could be resting now. It may be nearing its cocoon stage. Either way, it hardly moves unless touched, and then it reacts by swinging around and swiftly biting the object. I call it "Absolem"...it seemed fitting.
