Coordinator notes: Coordinator 1: I believe that the patterning along the edge of the hindwing is more consistent with Hayhurst's Scallopwing but that both the shape and pattern of the forewing are more consistent with Mazan's Scallopwing. Therefore, I am going to punt on this one and hope that one of the other coordinator's has more experience with these two species. Coordinator 2: My field guides say that Hayhurst's Scallopwing has a checkered black-tan fringe, which this sighting does seem to have though it is not as distinct as on some photos I have seen. Regarding range of the two species, Mazans Scallopwing does not seem to be documented farther north than north-central Texas. This sighting is in Fannin Co., on the border with OK, well within the documented range of Hayhurst's. On the basis of these two points, I believe this is Hayhurst's Scallopwing.
