Observation notes: It appeared to be nectaring on my butterfly bush. I submitted one photo of the dorsal view and one photo of the ventral view. I couldnt find a matching butterfly in my michigan field guide. I also tried to identify it with the tools on this website by looking at several family lists, but have still been unsuccessful in identifying this small butterfly. Its wingspan was approximately 3/4" to 1".
UPDATE:I have since stumbled upon the correct MOTH id :o) Rheumaptera hastata. Sorry for any inconvenience.
