Observation notes: I spotted this moth in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco; the house it was resting on is about 10 blocks from the ocean and 2 to 3 blocks from Golden Gate Park. It was resting in the doorway before the main door on the side of the wall that didn't get sunlight. it was a bit higher than me maybe around 6 feet high. It didn't move at all while I took a picture.
