Observation notes: both the host plant (unknown) and horsetail milkweed are in the photograph with the caterpillar. The plants and caterpillar were Found in southern Santa Fe County at about 6000' elevation in an abandoned agricultural field receiving runoff from a parking lot. Plants in the field were generally shorter that .5 meter height, except for velvetweed (Oenothera cultiflora).
