Rawson's Metalmark
Calephelis rawsoni

Observation date: September 14, 2014
Submitted by: Raul Delgado
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: LCC Community College butterfly garden. Near the Rio Grande River border. rainy, humid day
Status: Resident
Verified by: stomlins701
Verified date: September 26, 2014
Coordinator notes: Even though it appears that the postmedian metallic band bulges outward, which would help indicate Rounded Metalmark, the suggested id, I believe this is an artifact of the angle of the specimen photograph. The bright orangish-brown color, strong forewing fringe checkering, and the missing hindwing fringe check near the angle opening with the forewing make me believe this is Rawson's Metalmark, probably a female.
