Observation notes: I have seen several of these in the last few days. This insect came out of no where and landed on a busy city sidewalk and just sat there.

Coordinator notes: This is likely Catocala blandula, but without a closer view with more detail, and perhaps also a view of the hindwings, I cannot be certain about the ID - ER. Looks more like C. palaeogama. SG
I can't narrow it down either but I think it is more likely to be palaeogama or neogama. Or maybe one or two others that look very similar. LD.
