Coordinator notes: The may be what I call the "Poplar Sphinx Moth." I found the adult moth in my backyard in Littleton, Colorado many years ago (and I never saw another). It looks very much like Smerinthus saliceti in that the adult moth has pink hindwings with an anal eyespot on each however, the edge of the forewings are deeply scalloped and not as smooth as it is on that species. Someone should be familiar with the caterpillar clearly shown by your photograph and verify the correct species. Mike
