Observation notes: Found in preschool building at St. Francis/St. Emma by Eileen Burke. I submitted photo to Bugguide which determined it was a Nais Tiger Moth. However, after acquiring a copy of Peterson's Guide to Moths of North America, 2012, I thought the picture of the Virgin Tiger Moth on p. 297 looked more like the photo than of the Nais on p. 299. There are spots on this specimine's collar, the FW's black divided by whitish lines seems more to fit Virgin, also the three black shapes in area above the wings seem more like that of the Virgin than the Nais, also there is no red in the white of that area. The photos in Bugguide for Nais showed reddish wash there. I want to use this in a book I am working on for the Butterflies and Moths of Belmead. Probably never will finish it, but I's like to have what is there correct.
