Observation notes: Male adult of Poanes melane (umber skipper), reared from an egg on Cynodon dactylon (Bermuda grass). The egg was collected on the same host along with several others on 10/15/16 despite the late season and overcast weather; the photographs displayed here were taken on 1/20/17. Larval development took approximately two months and pupal development took one month.
