Tussock moths
Orgyia sp.

Observation date: May 15, 2017
Submitted by: Clare_Hope
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I found this little guy on the trunk of an ornamental plum tree. A quick Google search told me it was a tussock moth caterpillar, and that it had rash causing hair, so I did not touch it. I wanted to observe it more, so I picked it up on a stick and put it in a container with some sticks and birch leaves (what it apparently eats). (PS unimportant to the real purpose of this but I named it Edward.)
