Coordinator notes: Superficially this looks like pacuvius but I go with propertius because northern California-Sierra Nevada ssp. lilius is a much blacker insect with different FW markings. Yours has brown rather than black hindwings and propertius can be quite small as well as the different forewing markings-Ken Davenport
