Observation notes: The identification I am providing is based only on looking at the pictures in your gallery, seeing caterpillars that look like mine, and hoping I am remembering the spelling of their name in the time between doing that and now.
This caterpillar was walking up my driveway. He didn't seem interested in any of the grass along the edge of the concrete. There was nothing ahead of him but a whole lot more driveway. I picked several different leaves and set them down and he didn't want them. I looked on the internet and read caterpillars eat leaves from flowering plants and trees so I carried him over to the peony plant and he crawled onto a leaf but didn't stay on the plant.
I am sorry I couldn't get him to whatever leaves he wanted but I hope he's better off than if I'd left him to walk to the end of the driveway where there is nothing but the street and still no greenery other than plain grass. It's a clear evening, not too hot, no perceptible wind.
This is a nice website. I hope having this picture assists in your project. Thanks.
