Observation notes: Early evening, mostly sunny with a few clouds, about 70 degrees, light breeze. The caterpillar was clinging to the underside of a milkweed leaf, beside a gravel path next to a large overgrown field on one side, and mature woods on the other side. Nearby were goldenrod, joe pye weed, ironweed, milkweed, fleabane, honeysuckle, serviceberry, hawthorne, oak, maple, beech, mixed grassses, ferns.
