Observation notes: The caterpillar was found on an invasive vine that I could not identify, although I do not believe this vine to be it's host plant, as none of the leaves seemed eaten, the leaves of the vine were heavily diseased, and the vine was extending off of a bush, and although I did not pay much attention to it at the time, I believe it to have been a hawthorn bush of some sorts. A distinct characteristic about the caterpillar that I've never seen another one do caught me by surprise. When it was crawling, it always was swaying forwards and backwards, mimicking the wave of the vine in the wind. Even when I clipped the branch that the caterpillar was on and rested it, when the caterpillar moved, it continually did this. I personally have never seen a caterpillar behave this way. It was a clear and sunny day, some clouds, but not really covering the sun.
