Observation notes: Sunny, breezy, humid, 85 degrees. The butterfly was resting low on the side of the concrete housing of a culvert pipe. Nearby were large shallow ponds, willow, locust, sycamore, oak, ironweed, loosestrife, goldenrod, queen anne's lace, wingstem, milkweed, mixed weeds and grasses. None of the trees are mature.
