Observation notes: Sunny, 88 degrees, light breeze, humid. The caterpillar seemed to be crossing the gravel road, already about two feet from the weedy edge. Nearby were oak, maple, sycamore, cherry, locust, beech, sweet gum, sour gum, dogwood, buckeye, multiflora rose, goldenrod, wingstem, joe pye weed, boneset, tall thistle, lobelia, queen anne's lace, mouse ears, honeysuckle, poison ivy, grape vines.
