Observation notes: The butterfly landed just for a moment on a fallen oak log. The area was a forested ridge, about 300 feet above Beech Fork Lake. Nearby were oak, maple, walnut, hickory, sassafras, dogwood, redbud, tulip poplar, grape and poison ivy vines; quite a lot of invasive Japanese stilt-grass.
