Observation notes: Mostly cloudy, very humid, about 80 degrees; there had been some drizzle about an hour before, and rain the night before. This caterpillar was trundling along on the pavement very, very quickly, and into the weeds at the edge. Nearby were sycamore, oak, maple, beech, white pine, redbud, wingstem, ironweed, lespedeza, milkweed, poison ivy, grapevine, honeysuckle, oriental bittersweet vine, autumn olive.
