Observation notes: I have never encountered this species in my yard nor in the Mono Lake vicinity. It looked really odd to me - my first impression was that it was an aberrant skipper, and maybe it is, or simply a Sandhill Skipper out of context. Context can really throw us sometimes. It does not totally match the appearance of the nominate Sandhills that I have photographed on saltgrass alkali flats around Crowley Lake or Bridgeport. But I know its a variable species. One I've never encountered at this elevation around Mono Lake, so am entering here

Coordinator notes: Yes, I wonder what this would look like in a series. Where was the locality? I plan to be up there for about 3 days.
