Rocky Mountain Dotted-Blue
Euphilotes ancilla

Observation date: July 11, 2019
Submitted by: stevecary
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: several seen from July 11 through July 17, all perching on or near Eriogonum umbellatum (my ID, for what it's worth)
Status: Resident
Verified by: mikefisher
Verified date: May 30, 2020
Coordinator notes: Correct ID. The names do however, now represent separate species (Euphilotes enoptes and Euphilotes ancilla). Enoptes is restricted mostly to California and the populations eastward of the Sierras are ancilla (the two occur together in the eastern Sierra and use entirely different hosts......see BOC, Part 4, p. 122-124....I think you bought this from me in at the Park City, UT lep soc meeting in 2014).
