Observation notes: Spotted three individuals (first two photos) nectaring on Lithospermum sp. (probably canescens) just north of E 56th Street in the Newaygo Prairie Nature Sanctuary. Saw a fourth individual on the ground in the far northwest portion of the sanctuary (third photo). It was difficult to spot the individuals on the ground -- there were probably many others present. This was a few hours after strong storms moved through. 70F, partly sunny, and very breezy.
