Coordinator notes: Correct ID again Lisa.....subspecies homoperplexa on the eastern slope in Colorado; affinis in the sagebrush zone on the western slope; apama is in Arizona. There are intermediates affinis/homoperplexa/apama in southern and southwestern Colorado. This one is pretty worn and has been out for a while. Young Gulch....a very good place for butterflies (not sure how the fire might have affected the locality? You use to have to be careful for rattlesnakes. Often, they would not even rattle! Mike
