Observation date: August 09, 2020
Submitted by: juniper@erols.com
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Hot (87 degrees), sunny, humid day. Hairstreak was in and around native plant garden and spent at least an hour feeding on Short-toothed Mountain-Mint (Pycnanthemum muticum). It spent most of its time feeding on blooms in the shade and seemed not to be bothered by being photographed. First record, I believe, for the Northern Neck region (Northumberland Co.) of Virginia. First observed by Betsy Washington. First one we have seen in several years of butterfly observation in the region.
