Observation notes: Near a floodlight on my deck. I am shooting with a Canon 7D. But I did just buy a macro lens, so maybe that will help. Shooting creatures that are around an inch big, that have markings that fade as they age, at night, when you often only get one shot, is a challenge. At least for me.
