Observation notes: Different coloring from other Greater Fritillaries I saw flying that day. Photographed in high meadow at approx 11,300 feet on East Beckwith Mountain, Gunnison National Forest. Perhaps female S. mormonia and the majority of other Greater Frits were male?

Coordinator notes: Yes, your thought for the suggested ID is correct...a female Mormon Fritillary. The females are somewhat dimorphic looking on the upperside from the males. Mike
