Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found fluttering about leaves and grass along ditch paralleling dirt road up in a remote area in the foothills along Cahuita Road. This individual matches up well for Unicorn Sootywing (Staphylus unicornus). Scalloped HW, costal folds on FW and much white spotting on FWs. FW shows white spots near basal area; a triangle of spots in central FW; and two bold apical spots as well as a very faint third apical spot positioned slightly outward. Specimens on Butterflies of America website match up well, including one showing similar white dash on FW. All were collected from the Limon province.
