Coordinator notes: This is the Taxiles Skipper - a male on which both upper are largely yellowish-orange with little black. Also, you can see here most of the left forewing surface. The Western Banded Skipper male has a black streak in about the middle of that wing (the stigma) that runs parallel with the wing angle. This feature is not found on any member of the skipper genus Poanes. Also, the WBS flies much later in the season (mostly late July and into September). Mike
