Coordinator notes: This is the Northern Checkerspot...I think you had submitted photos of two I verified yesterday as the Anicia Checkerspot (Euphydryas anicia and not "chalcedona" that you suggested as an ID). Compare the two...the forewings have a little different shape around the wing tips...you should be able to detect a slight lobe-shape formed on the Northern (especially the left fw of your photo).
