Silver-spotted Skipper
Epargyreus clarus

Observation date: August 07, 2022
Submitted by: EddieGarrity
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This butterfly was feeding on the nectar of a flower of Milkweed Vine (Cynanchum laeve). There was another butterfly of the same species nearby feeding on other flowers of a milkweed vine. The flowers of the milkweed vine appear to be a favorite of this species of butterfly. Other insects visiting these flowers were honeybees and the Eastern Carpenter Bee. This butterfly looked larger than the other butterfly of the same species. The picture of the single butterfly is the butterfly that is to the far left in the picture showing both butterflies; the other butterfly being on the far right, the diagonal vine near the middle of the picture leads to it.
