Fiery Skipper
Hylephila phyleus

Observation date: August 14, 2022
Submitted by: robtluke@aol.com
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: iNaturalist identified it as a Woodland Skipper. Since I've only seen Fiery Skippers I'm hoping this really is different!
Status: Resident
Verified by: stevecary
Verified date: August 18, 2022
Coordinator notes: Sorry, Rob! I think the angle of light/shadow may have skewed the iNat ID app. plus this may be a female, whose pattern shows only lightly. If you want to see Woodland Skipper, go to Cebolla Creek in the Jemez Mtns. below Seven Springs Fish Hatchery. they should still be on the wing for a couple weeks. they do not live in Albuquerque :^)
