The Larch Moth
Tolype laricis

Observation date: August 29, 2022
Submitted by: jrmbutterfly
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: On a shaded concrete wall. Appeared in pristine condition but after carrying it home in a small bottle it had beaten itself up so badly that the bottle was filled with what looked like a dust bunny.
Status: Resident
Verified by: davidwdroppers
Verified date: September 05, 2022
Coordinator notes: ID based on how dark the wings are - this is common in laricis, but not common at all in distincta, based on what photos I can find online, assuming they've been identified correctly. ID should be considered tentative.
