Observation date: August 30, 2022

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This female is pretty heavily marked and was at 9500ft. Dorsal forewing spots heavier than most Checkereds but Glassberg says inner spots should be gray instead of black. Still hoping for Western....though don't think this is it.

Coordinator notes: differentiating Checkered from Western is very tough. most of Glassberg's diagnostic marks are conditioned with "usually." 9500' is pretty high, but all confirmed westerns I have seen were above 12,000'. Given the ubiquity of protodice and the marks not really reading as occidentalis, I have to go with protodice.
