Observation notes: Warm sunny day. Wasn’t really looking for butterflies this late. Found this skipper in a very small area of vegetation. Dark color convinced me this was an Umber Skipper. I believe this is the latest date for Mendocino County on BAMONA by a few days.

Coordinator notes: Since I only keep state early and late records in general I can't say what the dates are in Mendocino County...they do go into December elsewhere. Be aware our California Buckeyes are now changed to Junonia grisea, the Gray Buckeye since Common Buckeyes differ genoimically and live in the eastern USA. Cryptic species. You can check your personal records, While I have not changed all of California's submissions yet, I did Mendocino County yesterday!-Ken Davenport
