Observation notes: The weather was in the upper 50's with bright sun, but a cold breeze. I spotted the Elfin on a dried leaf on the trail in Princeton Institute Woods near a small patch of white pines. It angled itself nearly sideways on the leaf when I approached with the camera, so the side was facing up.
