Observation notes: These are some of my daughter's "buddies". Every evening for several weeks now they can be found in our back yard. Often 3 or more will be in the yard around dusk. They will fly around and chase each other, making stops on outstretched hands and even on my toddlers head as she plays in the yard. They also seem to enjoy catching the draft when the air-conditioning fan is running and will play in the wind it creates. When they perch on my hand for more than a moment they will buzz in a pattern similar to a Morse code. We try to go out and visit with them each day and unless it's raining, even when it is sometimes they will reliably be found. Once they spot me they will fly to the same spot in the middle of the yard and then back towards me. If there are more than 2 they usually pay more attention to each other. I can usually tell if they will perch on me that day by how much they fly around just me. Most days they do. I have held sliced oranges and they will eat that from my hand as well. Not sure about host plants but I think they roost in some very tall Norfolk pines in the back of the yard. They usually retreat closer to sunset.
