Observation notes: On trail to Dana Lakes at 10700 ft two males were patrolling creek area with lots of nectar and possible host plant. both looked very fresh. These would not land so we decided to try to get shots of them in the air, this was not easy a net would have been easier except we may have been in the national park and we did not bring one anyway. We also saw a female on the trail above Virginia lakes about the same elevation, she was very yellow in color also she did not land. that was aug. 4th. We must have missed you by just a couple days, hope you had fun on your trip.

Coordinator notes: I cannot confirm the ID by this photo and A. sara pseudothoosa does occur in the region, BUT A. julia stella was found at this locality on the Yosemite Butterfly Count at this locality july 31st and sara is not likely at this elevation so I accept the ID.-Ken Davenport
