Observation notes: The picture I took was the butterfly perched on alfalfa. They have been plentiful this year and we had not noticed them.in previous years.

Coordinator notes: Very difficult to differentiate between Pontia protodice and Pontia occidentalis white the image provided as key ID marks are not clear. This specimen is most definitely a female with the high amount of markings. I choose P. occidentalis as I think there is some darker penciled veining present on the upperside forewings.
