Observation notes: Skipper along the Rio Grande, perching on southern cattail, Baccharis leaves, and adjacent dried stems. This individual has extensive white areas on its dorsal wing surfaces, perhaps an older individual with scales sloughing. A small group of fiery skippers have arrived in this area over the past week or two. The afternoon was warm. sunny, and windy.
